SAVE THE NEW ORLEANS

ADOLESCENT HOSPITAL

Dear Supporters,

Regretfully, despite all of our efforts as well as the hard work of our friends in the legislature, we were unable to prevent Governor Bobby Jindal’s veto pen from slashing NOAH out of existence.

As of this date, NOAH has stopped admissions and we have been notified that the patients currently being served at our hospital in uptown New Orleans will be transferred to Southeast Hospital in Mandeville by the end of July. The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH) has set August 14 as a target date for the complete closure of NOAH. According to Secretary Alan Levine, the two outpatient clinics now located at 210 State Street, will be moved to locations in Algiers and Central City New Orleans. Also, the Chartres/Pontchartrain Clinic currently operating on Elysian Fields will be consolidated with the Central City Clinic. Therefore, there will be a total of two child and adolescent clinics for the city of New Orleans, one on the Eastbank and one on the Westbank.

We are disappointed in this decision and we believe that this move is detrimental to the health care of our citizens. If you are concerned with this decision, we urge you to contact Gov. Jindal and tell him that we need mental health inpatient care for the Southshore. You can call Gov. Jindal at 1-866-366-1121 (toll free).
NOAH’s Friends will maintain an executive board. Our plan is to continue to advocate for the mental health needs of the children, teens and adults in the metropolitan area of New Orleans which includes Jefferson, St. Bernard, Plaquemines and the river parishes. For future updates, please check this website.

Thank you for your past support.

Sincerely,
Pat L. Roy
President

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your support for NOAH and the patients we serve. I have worked at NOAH for 19 years and will miss many things but especially all of the devoted volunteers and generous donors who have cared so much for our kids. I have been transferred to Southeast Louisiana Hospital in Mandeville and will work with the volunteer program there.

I will always remember with fondness the compassion and commitment you have shown to the neediest of our community. Please keep volunteering!

Sincerely,
Alison Dillmann
Director of Volunteer Services
